Dirty Chai

Jamie introduced me to the “dirty chai” today. It is a chai latte, with a shot of espresso. Theoretically it should leave one buzzing with caffeine, adrenaline, melatonin, dopamine, etc, for 24 hours. Theoretically. Maybe I should have ordered the extra grande ultimate version with complimentary heroin shot.

The book chapter is coming along fine. In part because I have more time for it now during the day (as opposed to during the dark hours only, however fitting they might be). This because the other machine I’m supposed to be measuring the 200 samples on mysteriously developed a malfunctioning. The lab über-chief mockingly observed that most machines I touch in the lab break down at the moment. I countered by mentioning that the prone-to-random-explosions microwave had never behaved better than during the digestion of my samples.

I have started swimming again. Unfortunately the outdoor pools are now all closed, but there is an indoor pool next to the lab for which Jamie gave me a bunch of free admission tickets. I know that doing lab-marathons counts as exercise, but somehow I feel out of shape, and a morning swim does much more for me than a dirty chai.
